In my spare time, I enjoy home improvement projects, get togethers, and all the fun Colorado & New Mexico adventures! I love animals and I love harrassing and playing with my little cat, Don Juan!

My Credentials

I am a bi-racial, multicultural clinician from El Paso, Texas, where I grew up on and off the Indian Reservation. I honor my family and my people by giving back both therapeutically and in other aspects in my life. My father was also a veteran, and both my parents were retired from civil service, having worked at Fort Bliss and White Sands Missile Range. I grew up an ‘army brat,’ so it’s only natural that I have a soft spot for vets and first responders.

As I developed an interest in body-mind healing, I relocated to Boulder, Colorado, where I earned a Master’s degree in Somatic Psychotherapy in 2003.

I interned for CU Boulder Upward Bound Program during graduate school in 2002 and 2003. This fantastic program which serves Indigenous youth who stay on campus during the summer months and attend courses, thereby increasing the likelihood of college attendance for Native youth. I returned as the Director of Counseling for this program staying until 2018 and returning in 2021 to the present. I continue to give back to my Indigenous community in this position each summer as needed.

I went to work as Youth Specialist at t1he Center for People With Disabilities in Boulder, Colorado working specifically with youth with disabilities, as well as a Peer Support Specialist for adults, providing life skills and work experiences with support within the community.

I also opened a dance school where I taught dance and performance and engaged in production work for about 4 years while also working in a limited somatic counseling role.

Working as a paraprofessional at an IB world school in the St. Vrain School District with special education children was a great experience.

I also perform evaluations for some of the Colorado counties for at-risk kids and youth who are either at risk of home removal or have been removed already to assist with services and to bring families back together in the best way possible. I also offer counseling services to First Responders and Judicial officers, and their partners.

Additionally, I worked conducting evaluations on at risk, often disturbed children in Families First when it first rolled out in Colorado. This initiative and protocl is under the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health.

2022 was a big year for me, where I began studies to become a Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapist. I continue my education with the most up-to-date, evidence-based modalities to help all my clients succeed in their health and healing. This informs my professional substance use evaluations.

Since 2012 I have worked within the Domestic Relations arena, where I have served in many mental health roles: Child and Family Investigator (CFI), Parental Responsibilities Evaluator (PRE), and Parental Coordinator and Decision Maker (PC/DM), reunification therapist, substance use and mental health evaluator for both Domestic Relation cases and criminal County Diversion cases, Expert Witness for Danger and Neglect cases, and Domestic Violence, along with plenty of Court report writing. I have retired from active work in this area, though I remain a strong proponent of legislative change & protections for child custody evaluators and therapists within the Domestic Relations arena.

I enjoy all the regular activities beautiful Colorado offers: hiking, camping and rafting, with some roller derby thrown in for fun.

I enjoy the arts, and draw, painting and dancing, as well as enjoy reading and movies. I live a minimalist lifestyle out in the country with horses, owls, and coyotes, as I value simplicity and experiences over things. I also enjoy harassing my little cat with plenty of play, hugs, and kisses!
